Cookbook Day ...

According to holidayinsights.com, October 12th celebrates Cookbook Launch day. The sight suggests buying a cookbook to celebrate this day. I would love to have an excuse to buy a cookbook; However, these sluggish economic times prevents my impulse. Never fear, I always have a solution to satisfy my needs : The Public Library !

In light of the spooky month, I searched "halloween" at Johnson County Library and KC Public Library to find a cookbook relevant to Halloween. I found some real treats:

Kansas City Public Library
Halloween Treats by Donata, Maggipinto
Kraft Halloween by Kraft Foods Co
Frightfully Fun Halloween Recipes
101 Spooktacular Party Ideas by Linda Sadler
Ghoulish Goodies by Sharon Bowers
Creepy Cuisine by Lucy Monroe
Johnson County Library
Halloween by Fay Robinson
Halloween Crafts by Fay Robinson
Cake Pops by Bakerell
Family Fun Tricks and Treats by the FamilyFun
Tricks & Treats by Deborah Harding
Trick or Treat by Morgana De Ville
Halloween by Matthew Mead
Halloween by Martha Stewart

Have a happy cookbook day !

Comfort food for the romantic bookworm...

I peruse the bookshelves at Corinth Library on Saturdays. Then on Sundays, I relish time in the kitchen preparing a meal to last. However, my ultimate comfort food can not be recreated in my kitchen nor can I write a novel to save my life.
There are times that you need to pay someone else for your comfort. A big bowl of Marco Polo's spaghetti and meatballs finished with a scoop of Murray's* French Silk ice cream satisfies one of my needs.

As I find a repose in these foods, I often feel the need to reread certain books. Not known to be great tomes of intellectual meaning; but pleasurable and quick and satisfying.

Books add so much to a room ...

"Books constitute capital. A library book lasts as long as a house, for hundreds of years. It is not, then, an article of mere consumption but fairly of capital, and often in the case of professional men, setting out in life, it is their only capital." ~ Thomas Jefferson
